One more program:  The club does meet Monday, Dec. 22 for its last regular meeting of the calendar year.  Scheduled speaker is Dr. Tom Rockefeller, Mead School District superintendent.  No meeting Dec. 29.

THANKS!:  Many thanks to Lenore Romney and Nancy Humphries for coordinating the gift drive for needy children and their families from Holmes Elementary School.  And thanks to all the secret Santa members who bought presents for the families.

(With apologies to Clement Clarke Moore, who wrote “The Night Before Christmas” in 1823.)
A Spokane-North Christmas Story
Twas the week before Christmas, and all through the club
All the members were stirring, in line for the grub.
Their gifts had been stacked by the entry with care
For Holmes’ needy families to get a fair share.
The children were spread, throughout the hall.
While visions of chocolate cake were shared by all.
When up on the stage, there arose a sweet chatter
And Rotary members looked up from their platter.
When wondering, what to their eyes did appear
But 14 Holmes students with song spreading cheer.
Their carols they sang, with love and with care,
And we knew all at once St. Nick’s spirit was there.
As they finished their show, their smiles were proud,
When the audience clapped both long and quite loud.
And we heard them exclaim, as they walked out of sight,
Happy Christmas to all – and to all a good night!
